Following on from a Design Study for Railtrack to evaluate the Underfloor Wheel Lathe Market (see web page Design Studies) a contract was awarded to Atlas Engineering for a tandem wheel lathe for the Depot at Selhurst. At this time the Depot maintained trains on behalf of Connex South East. Subsequently D&P were awarded a contract from Railtrack to manage this contract on their behalf. The contract with D&P related to the management of the design, manufacture, installation and testing of the Tandem Wheel Lathe. The contract duration was ten months.
